Send Emails From Your Own Domain
By default, quotes and confirmations go out from a shared @caterway.io address. With your own sending domain, they go out from your own address instead, for example sales@yourcompany.com, so clients see your brand in their inbox, not ours.
Pro feature
Custom sending domains are a Pro feature. On Free, this section shows an upgrade prompt instead.
Step 1: Open the domain settings
Go to Settings → Email, under the Sender section at the top of the page, and find Send from your own domain.
Step 2: Connect your domain
- Under Your domain, type your domain, e.g.
yourcompany.com, nohttps://or trailing slash. - Under Send from, type the prefix you want your address to use, e.g.
sales. Combined with your domain this becomes your sending address (sales@yourcompany.com). - Click Connect domain.
caterway.io itself, or a free mailbox domain like gmail.com or outlook.com, use a domain your business actually owns.
Step 3: Add the DNS records
CaterWay shows a table of DNS records under Add these DNS records, a TXT record for SPF and one or two CNAME records for DKIM.
- SPF tells email providers your domain allows CaterWay to send mail on its behalf.
- DKIM adds a cryptographic signature to each message, so it doesn't get flagged as spam or spoofed.
- Log in to your domain registrar or DNS provider (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.).
- Add each record exactly as shown, same type, name, and value (use the copy icon next to each field).
- Save your changes there.
Tip
DNS changes can take minutes or hours to propagate. If Verify fails the first time, wait a bit and try again.
Step 4: Verify
Back in CaterWay, click Verify. Once your records check out, the card switches to a green Verified badge and shows Sending as your new address.
After verifying
Every quote, confirmation, and reminder now sends from your address automatically, no further setup. You can still update the prefix any time (Save) or disconnect the domain (Remove), a confirmation warns that mail reverts to the shared address.
If you cancel Pro
If your account lapses to Free, your domain is disconnected from sending so the slot frees up, mail falls back to the shared @caterway.io address. Your domain and prefix aren't forgotten, they're kept on file, so upgrading again reconnects everything without re-entering DNS records.
